Manjishtha, also known as Indian Madder, is an Ayurvedic herb that has a bright red hue symbolic of its blood purifying and detox benefits, and also one of the reasons why it is often sought after commercially to dye cloths. The herb has also been used to treat various skin concerns and also for brightening the complexion. The herb is enriched with a compound called Alizarin which is an effective anti-bacterial. Application of Manjishta is known to soothe dry skin, allergy and any kind of rash or inflammation.

In Ayurveda, the herb is also cherished for its immunity boosting qualities and is often recommended to prepare kadha a traditional Indian drink with herbs and spices boiled and infused in water prepared to treat and prevent cold, cough and allergies due to its immunity boosting properties.
